NEW YORK - A stylish black and white dress, a close-fitting bustier and sleeves that gently descent down from the shoulders. This is the outfit chosen by actress Emma Watson, who many remember in the role of Hermione Granger in the saga Harry Potter, at the last New York's Met Gala. The American star once again has not missed the opportunity to shine. Nothing strange even for the more aesthetically attentive eyes, except that the dress is actually been composed entirely with recycled plastic bottles.
The theme of the 2016 Met Gala
This year's theme of the evening held at the Metropolitan Museum was "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" or how to reinvent fashion in an era dominated by technology. Starting from this, Emma Watson wanted to highlight the incredible progress of fashion in the field of eco-sustainability. As reported by the Telegraph the artist has pointed out that plastic can be transformed into fine fabrics and this is possible only if creativity, technology and responsibility are travelling together.
Calvin Klein and Eco Age
The dress is a collaboration between Calvin Klein and the Green Carpet Challengethe initiative is part of the project Eco Age by Livia Firth, of whose passion for sustainable fashion was already discussed in the past. The dress was created with three different fabrics made from yarn all based on recycled plastic bottles, the zips created with recycled material and the inside of the bustier with organic cotton. Eco Age commented: "We really enjoyed working with the team of Calvin Klein to create a look that is the perfect combination of ethics and aesthetics".
