LONDON –The awards ceremony for the World's 50 Best Restaurants was recently held at London’s Guildhall by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. During the evening, the rankings for the 50 best restaurants in the world were revealed, selected from amongst the 1000 international experts from the World's 50 Best Restaurant Academy. Second prize went to Italy, thanks to Massimo Bottura and his Osteria Francescana in Modena.
Italy and the podium
Number one in the World's 50 Best were the Roca brothers - Joan, Josep and Jordi – from El Celler De Can Roca: after their victory in 2013, and their drop to second place a year later, the magic trio have triumphed again and returned to the top of the rankings. Behind Bottura, who was in second place, was Rene Redzepi, chef at Noma in Copenhagen, after coming first on four occasions. As well as Bottura in the top 50, there were another 2 Italian restaurants: in 27th place, Piazza Duomo in Alba in Piedmont and in 34th position, Le Calandre in Rubano, in the province of Padua.
